What's Going on in our Community

When you plan your next visit to Olds, or will be attending one of the events at the Olds Fairgrounds, we want you to come prepared. In this section, we have provided links to Accommodations in the area, including hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts, as well as some great campgrounds, including O.R. Hedges Campground just across the street from the Cow Palace.

Besides having a place to stay, it's nice to know what other events and activities might be going on at the same time, so make sure you check out our Local Attractions page.

We've got some great things to do, including visiting the Botanic Gardens at Olds College, taking in an Olds Grizzlys hockey game, or enjoying any of the Olds Fashioned Christmas events here in town. If you need more information, we recommend you contact the Prairies to Peaks Tourism Association for all your Tourist Information.

The Olds Ag Society hosts many Special Events throughout the year, including horse shows such as the MJ Farms Hunter Jumper Show each August, Warmblood Breeders Show, and Reining Alberta Show, as well as national events such as the Team Roping Canada Finals and Cutter’s Classic. Cattle events include sales and shows for all major beef and dairy breeds. We also are very proud of the many 4-H activities held in our facilities, as well as special events held in the community such as the Alberta Ride for Sight and the Santa Claus Parade,

O.R. Hedges Park is owned by the Town of Olds, and leased to and operated by the Olds Lions Club. The campground is fenced for security and offers 46 serviced sites with electricity and water.A favourite every summer is the Alberta-approved Farmers Market, held weekly at the Cow Palace. The nearby Hutterite colony sells fresh bread and pies while thirty or so local producers supply an array of products from artwork to home-grown beef and bison to fresh veggies.

The Olds Fairgrounds are conveniently located right in the heart of Central Alberta, at the south end of Olds beside Centennial Park and O.R. Hedges Campground.
