Check out the clowns, marching bands, Parade Marshall, and more at the downtown parade in Olds each August. What Fair could possibly be a success without a parade? The Olds Fair & Rodeo is no exception. With marching bands, clowns and colorful floats, the parade is another great time for everyone before they head on down to the fairgrounds.

PARADE IS ON SAT., AUGUST 8, 2009 - 10 AM

Dates and times here are from 2008.
Check back next summer for 2009 information.

We are pleased that so many Rodeo Royalty from neighbouring towns participate in our parade. You'll see mascots like the Dairy Queen Cone, the A & W Root Bear, the Town of Didsbury's mascot, Didsbee, the STAR Bear, and Olds Grizzlys mascot, Grizwald. Members of the Olds Rural Crime Watch provide security during the parade.

Everybody loves a band, and we have a very special treat this year with the return of the Penhold Cadet Band.

Marching bands, floats, clowns, mascots. Come see them all at the Olds Parade! The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The Parade Route starts by heading north on 57th Avenue, east on 52 Street past the Evergreen Centre and Sports Complex, north on 50 Avenue downtown, west on 48 Street past the high school, south on 52 Avenue to 50 Street, west on 50 Street past the Mount View Lodge to 57 Avenue, south on 57 Avenue to 53 Street, west on 53 Street to 61 Avenue, then south on 61 Avenue to wind up back at Deer Meadow School.

Jason Jaffray of Olds, 2008 Parade MarshallHockey fans were thrilled to see the 2008 Parade Marshall was Vancouver Canucks right winger, and local hometown hero, Jason Jaffray. Jaffray appeared in 77 games for the Manitoba Moose in 2006-07, registering a team high 81 points. He led the Moose in scoring during the 2007 Calder Cup playoffs. The 6’1", 205 lbs. native of Olds, Alberta, signed with the Canucks on July 3, 2007.

Honoured guests in this year's parade will be the Rosehill Family, the Rural Family Service Award recipients for 2008, and 2008 Volunteer of the Year, Rita Thompson.
