Step into the Past to Build the Future

Invitation from the President
Chautauqua is coming to Olds! Click here for the entire program. After successful and fun-filled Chautauqua in 2006 and 2007, Olds Agricultural Society is once again embarking on this annual event, to promote our exciting project, the Gateway Centre. "Step into the Past to Build the Future" is our invitation to you to share in our celebration. Whether you are a primary agriculture producer, resident of the community, business owner or a supporter of recreational facilities, this project is certain to have an extraordinary impact on everyone.

Olds Agricultural Society has been involved in the central Alberta community for over one hundred years. During this centenary time span, the role in community growth and development that has been contributed by Olds Agricultural Society is unquestionably substantial. Our obligation starts with the Town of Olds, expands to the Mountain View County, extends throughout central Alberta, includes agricultural producers and processors across western Canada, and continues on from a macro perspective with far reaching global concerns.

Every year the use of Olds Agricultural Society facilities increases and will continue to increase annually. The Gateway Centre, a major expansion of agricultural facilities and the development of a community center, will ensure the capability of handling the demand of hosting these many important events. It will be available to the needs of our growing community, attract increasing visitors, and result in an economic spin-off for local businesses.

It is with great pride that OAS will begin hosting events in the recently constructed MegaDomes in 2008. This exciting project will allow OAS to continue to attract large scale agriculture based events to our community. It also allows OAS to direct all of our attentions to the community centre component of the Gateway Centre. This multipurpose community centre will be the hub of activities in our growing community.

Please plan to join members, friends, and supporters of Olds Agricultural Society for their Third Annual Chautauqua, guaranteed to be a memorable evening that will incorporate entertainment, great cuisine and information on April 26, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.

Sincerely,
Michael Latimer, OAS President
