For Beef Breeders

Age Verification | Fall Classic | Steer & Heifer Show | Summer Synergy | Sales and Shows | Meeting Facilities

There are very few facilities in Alberta that provide everything you need for hosting your cattle sale or show. We pride ourselves on our customer service, and will set up whichever facility best suits your needs. We are client-focussed and will work to satisfy your needs, above all else. Our staff is very diligent about the security of your property and your access to our facilities during your rental period.

Age Verification Services

CCIA has been successfully established as a world leader in animal identification. In January 2009, mandatory age verification and premise identification took effect in Alberta for beef cattle. With the ever increasing demand for accurate age determination in Canadian cattle, Age Verification provides an effective and internationally recognized Age Verification Process. Producers can enter and store Birth Date information and have it readily available for domestic and export markets.

Third party individuals, groups and businesses are able to assist producers in age-verifying calves or register a premises. OAS would like to be your "Third Party"! Age Verify your cattle with confidence through the Olds Agricultural Society.

Just 3 easy steps:

  1. Sign Third Party Agreement
  2. Provide tag numbers & calving records
  3. Take home your birth certificates

OAS provides this service free of charge, but asks that you provide information at least four or five days before you are planning to take sell your animals.

If you have questions, please contact OAS at 403-556-3770 or visit www.canadaid.com.

NEW! Olds Fall Classic, October 1st – 3rd, 2010!

The Fall Classic is a beef show that continues the tradition of the fabulous beef shows held during the Olds Fair for over 100 years. On behalf of the Olds Agricultural Society Beef Committee, it is with eager anticipation that the newly organized Olds Fall Classic will continue to be included in the RBC Beef Supreme Challenge! We have enjoyed many years of inclusion in this premier event which truly showcases the very "Best of the Best".

The elimination of the Olds Fair & Rodeo has brought forward the creation of this new event. With the conception of this new event, it is important to launch a campaign which will elevate a livestock showcase to new levels. Event planners are continually exploring approaches which will provide additional marketing opportunities, increased exhibitor exposure and a gathering place for commerce. Check back as we provide more exhibitor information and event opportunities.

Cattle Sales and Shows

Many provincial and national beef cattle associations like our facilities for hosting their individual breed shows. Recent upgrades have been made to lighting, sound, and heating, and the Cow Palace is an ideal facility to host machinery sales, displays, or demonstrations, as well as cattle shows and sales. The Caluori Pavilion is great for cattle penning competitions too. Livestock can also be stabled in the Infield Tents. Please give us a call if you would like more information.

The sales facility at the Olds Cow Palace is perfectly suited for marketing purebred beef cattle. Indoor wash rack facilities are available as well. Immediately north of the Cow Palace is an 8-outlet wash rack which easily services 150 head. Recent upgrades have been made to lighting and sound as well as improved heating.

Conveniently located halfway between Red Deer and Calgary, in the heart of Mountain View County, the sales pavilion at the Olds fairgrounds can be booked by calling OAS at 403-556-3770. We always find it a pleasure to work with cattle breeders in Central Alberta and will do everything we can to help you promote your event.
