Whether you visit a local library or museum, attend a cultural or athletic event like the Olds Fair, or participate in a conservation project, lottery fund dollars are often at work behind the scenes.

Livestock Programs for Youth

4-H | Ambassador Program | Youth Breed Associations | Special Riding | Summer Synergy 2010

In 4-H Clubs the focus is on fun, friends, and learning new skills or learning all about animals. Pictured here are participants in the 4-H Judging Seminar held in Olds.The Olds Agricultural Society has supported the programs of 4-H for many years. 4-H is Canada's largest and longest-running rural youth development organization.

Some of the clubs who meet regularly at OAS facilities include Bowden Light Horse, Noble Riders, Prairie Partners, Ropes & Reins, Silver Sage Riders, Silver Stirrups, and Thundering Hoof Beats 4-H.

The Provincial 4-H Beef Heifer Show is just one of many major shows held at the OAS grounds.

Youth Ambassador Program

Since 2001, the RBC Dominion Securities Youth Ambassador Scholarship Program has awarded young users of our facilities who participate in the Fair and Rodeo. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year. Scholarship recipients become the Olds Agricultural Society Youth Ambassadors.

Youth Breed Associations

Recognizing the contribution Junior members make to the growth of the cattle industry and the future of the individual breeds in Canada, many breed associations have programs for young people. Please use the links here to learn more.

The Mountain View Special Riders often meet in the Caluori Pavilion.

Summer Synergy 2010

Olds Agricultural Society and Calgary Stampede are committed to provide a collaborative venue to showcase youth in agriculture by combining traditional elements with innovative approaches for personal achievement and development. For details on this new event, visit our Summer Synergy page.

OAS is proud to have facilities young people in Central Alberta can use to advance their skills with horse, dog, sheep, or cattle.
