Olds Agricultural Society In the News Chautauqua is coming
March 27, 2006

What is a Chautauqua, pronounced sha toŽ kwa? Webster's New World College Dictionary defines Chautauqua as an educational and recreational assembly with lectures, concerts, etc. Olds Agricultural Society defines Chautauqua as an evening of great food - Alberta beef with all the trimmings to be precise, quality entertainment - professional theatre performance of a murder mystery set in the early 1900s, information about the exciting proposed expansion project - the Gateway Centre, and finally, recognition of the outstanding award recipients. Of course there are several other surprises planned for the evening including an auction and a casino that will guarantee a most memorable evening.

Olds Agricultural Society is inviting the community to "Step into the Past to Build the Future". Residents of Olds, Mountain View County and indeed the province of Alberta will celebrate the official launch of the capital campaign that will guarantee the triumphant completion of the Gateway Centre by purchasing tickets to the first annual Chautauqua. Tickets are available at $100 each or a table of eight for $750. Just stop by the administration building or call the administration staff at 403-556-3770 to arrange for ticket purchase.

To kick off the Chautauqua excitement, Olds Agricultural Society will be rounding up some inmates charged with possessing profound commitment to community building on Friday, March 31st. Listen to 97.7 CK-FM for updates throughout the day on the welfare of these "Most Wanted" suspects. You may even want to stop by Olds Agricultural Society's Administration Building between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to check on the welfare of these notorious inmates and offer to help bail them out.

The first annual Chautauqua will set the stage for Olds Agricultural Society to reinforce their commitment to historical involvements and provide a forum from which to launch aggressive plans for the future.
