Olds Agricultural Society Purchases Property August 1, 2006

The Olds Agricultural Society is pleased to announce their recent purchase of the Dr. Harvey Cole property. Dr. Cole's property is located directly south of 54 Street in Olds, adjacent to the existing ball diamonds on Olds Agricultural Society's land.

This additional property will accommodate current and future expansion plans. This land acquisition will increase from the existing forty acres we now own, to sixty acres, and will allow for all future planned development.

The development of the proposed "Gateway Centre" is a building that would provide a venue for a very diverse number of agricultural, entertainment, recreational, educational and conference activities. The architectural concept is such that the facility will be able to transform from housing a commercial trade show to hosting a wedding reception and dance within two hours.

The "Gateway Centre" would have never been made possible without the overwhelming support we have received from Alberta Lotteries. Olds Agricultural Society received a $3,800,887.00 cheque in March 2005. The money is to be geared toward investment in rural development.

We are also very fortunate to have the Town of Olds support and they in turn will waive levy and development fees.
